Evan Hughes

Treasurer of the Evatt Foundation

Evan Hughes is currently a researcher in Australian political and diplomatic history at the University of Sydney. His work is on the development of Australian Soft Power since Federation.


Evan is on the Council of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, serving on the Arts (Chair) and Wine committees. Evan has worked in the funds management industry in Sydney servicing clients in the Australian private equity and agricultural asset management sectors, has briefly advised on financial services matters for a Senate inquiry and continues to engage in the field. Evan has previously served on the board of VisAsia at the Art Gallery of NSW and is deeply committed to Australian cultural policy development and the support of institutions. Evan managed a family art firm founded in 1969 for 10 years which continues as a private investment vehicle based in Sydney and Goulburn.


Evan also holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Cambridge in Art History.


Evan was elected to the Executive Committee in 2019.
