Time & Location

07 June 2022, 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Sydney, 6 Macquarie St, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia

About the Event

Over the weekend, we saw Australia reject politics of fear and inaction – instead voting for change. As a result, Anthony Albanese has been sworn in as Prime Minister and Labor will form government. This is a massive win for the progressive movement, and it's more important than ever that we remain active and engaged.

Please join us to celebrate this important victory by attending a thought-provoking discussion about what we can do to better understand what war does for women and society and how we can empower everyone. This ‘Women and War’ panel event will focus on women's voices that are too often silenced.

As inequalities are magnified, and social networks break down, women are more vulnerable to sexual violence and exploitation. So how do we amplify women's voices in war situations in a world where international law is often too slow and vague? These are all questions that expert panellists will answer.

As we hear about what is happening in Ukraine, we must remember other conflicts such as Afghanistan and discuss the intersectional themes in war. There will be the opportunity to ask questions and meet other guests, so please join us for this exciting event. Drinks will be served at 5:30 for a 6 pm start, so please arrive promptly.
