Eliot is a Sydney-based barrister practicing in class actions litigation, public and industrial law.

Before being called to the bar, he was an advisor to the Gillard/Rudd Labor governments, and has a long association with the Australian labour movement.

Eliot was elected Treasurer of the Evatt Foundation in 2018.
